Launch of the Arseus Medication Management Solution

Aca Pharma, Arseus Medical and Corilus will be launching the Arseus Medication Management Solution (AMMS) at a major event to be held on Wednesday evening, 9 December in the Auditorium 2000 in Heysel, Brussels. All care homes (represented by management, head nurses and Clinical Research Associates) and pharmacies in Belgium are invited to attend this event.

AMMS is the integrated, comprehensive solution designed to optimize the supply and administration of medications to care home residents through pharmacies. AMMS consists of a variety of products and services provided to care homes and pharmacies by Aca Pharma, Arseus Medical and Corilus. These three companies form part of the Arseus Group.

International studies show that the distribution of medication in care homes could be improved.
The optimization of the various steps in this process helps ensure that the medication is delivered to the patient securely and reliably, thereby significantly reducing medication errors, preventable hospitalizations and increased expenses for RIZIV (the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance).

AMMS works as follows: the first step in effective medication management is the medication schedule in the care home, which is entered electronically in the Careplus software application. Next, the schedule is converted into a production order, which is then transmitted electronically to the pharmacy. Once the pharmacy has received the order, it prepares the medication for each administration using the Multidosis software application. In so doing, the pharmacist has three options: he can use Wiegand plateaus, Venalink blister packs, or a robot
that delivers the medication in small bags. Wiegand transport boxes are particularly well suited for the transport of prepared medication from the pharmacy to the care home. The home can then use Wiegand medication carts to distribute the prepared medication among the residents.

The preparation of the medications by the pharmacist in blister packs or dispensers saves the nurse time, thereby facilitating monitoring, compliance and related care.
Access to the medication schedule furthermore allows pharmacists to provide more pharmaceutical care, and the first projects have shown that the number of errors in the delivery, preparation and administration is reduced substantially.

The various products and services are provided by three companies that form part of the Arseus Group. Corilus supplies the Careplus software to the care home and the Multidosis software application to the pharmacy. Aca Pharma supplies the required materials and devices, ranging from Venalink blister packs and Wiegand plateaus to infrastructure and transport solutions; and Arseus Medical is responsible for delivering Wiegand medication carts, plateaus and infrastructure to the care home.

“The fact that the products and services of Aca Pharma, Arseus Medical and Corilus are perfectly coordinated allows Arseus to provide an integrated, comprehensive solution that is unique in the market”, Arseus CEO Ger van Jeveren said.
