Exclusively available in the Netherlands from Spruyt hillen BV from 1 November 2010
IJsselstein, 28 October 2010 - As of 1 November 2010, InsuJetTM is available in the Netherlands. InsuJetTM is a new, innovative, needle-free insulin delivery system. Effective, reliable and safe delivery of insulin without having to use a needle is now possible with InsuJetTM.
With the introduction of InsuJetTM, a major advance has been made in the ease of insulin delivery for people with diabetes. InsuJetTM is an attractive option for diabetes patients who have to switch from oral medications to insulin and for people with diabetes who want to stop injecting insulin with a needle.
A recent survey about needle-free delivery of insulin among people with diabetes revealed that 80% of the users see it as a pleasant and user-friendly delivery method.
InsuJetTM is a reliable alternative based on advanced technology for every diabetes patient who does not want to inject insulin.* The reliability of InsuJetTM and the rapid effect of insulin delivered with the InsuJetTM have been scientifically researched in a clamp study. The clamp study was conducted in the UMC St. Radboud Hospital in Nijmegen on 18 healthy volunteers. The results of this study will be presented at the winter meeting of the Dutch Diabetes Research Foundation (NVDO) on 2 and 3 December 2010.
InsuJetTM is suited for the delivery of all types of insulin available in a cartridge for a refillable insulin pen. Spruyt hillen is the exclusive distributor in the Netherlands.
There are about 850,000 people with diabetes in the Netherlands. In addition, it is estimated that another 250,000 affected people have not yet been diagnosed. About 1 in 5 of the people with diabetes take insulin. The number of people with diabetes in the Netherlands is expected to increase by 80% during the coming years. An estimated 1.3 million people will have type 1 or type 2 diabetes by 2025. This strong increase is being caused especially by the ageing of the population and the growing number of overweight people, according to Statistics Netherlands. Diabetes is already being called the number one epidemic.
